Special Multi-disciplinary Meeting on Global Airline Flight Tracking

MONTRÉAL, 9 May 2014 – The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will be hosting a special meeting on 12-13 May 2014 regarding the global tracking of airline flights. ICAO Council States, in addition to States who have nominated representatives to the ICAO Air Navigation Commission, will be joined by industry groups to consider the need for a global airline flight tracking capability.

Discussions will also be held surrounding how ICAO and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) can collaborate for short-term voluntary action as in the recent IATA Task Force on airline flight tracking, as well as on the medium-term considerations regarding an International Standard.

A press conference will be held on the second day of the meeting in the ICAO Delegates Lounge.  Any available meeting conclusions will be presented at this time and a Q&A session with participation by ICAO and IATA technical specialists will be conducted.
