In advance of ICAO’s 40th Assembly, ICAO Secretary General Dr. Fang Liu signed a cooperation agreement with the Minister of Infrastructure of Brazil, Mr. Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, which will focus on strengthening the capacity of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SAC) Brazil in the areas of airport planning, operations and management.
The agreement builds on the existing technical cooperation delivered through ICAO’s Technical Cooperation Bureau. This new agreement will extend this work while adding new objectives to strengthen the planning and operations of airport activities in Brazil through the implementation of different deliverables. This project corresponds with ICAO Strategic Objectives in Safety, Air Navigation Capacity and Efficiency, Security and Facilitation, and Economic Development of Air Transport.
The signing ceremony took place on 23 September 2019 and was attended by the Executive Secretary of Brazil’s Minister of Infrastructure, Mr. Marcelo Sampaio, and the Secretary of the SAC, Mr. Ronei Saggioro Glanzmann.
