Montréal, Canada
Venue:
ICAO HQ, 999 Robert-Bourassa Boulevard

To be conducted simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese, this unique event in the history of ICAO strongly supports the Organization’s No Country Left Behind (NCLB) goals and will bring States and the donor/development community together to help maximize opportunities for everyone by enhancing global air transport to ensure more successful and sustainable local and regional prosperity.

Aviation supported 8.5 million jobs in 2014 and its direct economic impact reached approximately USD 700 billion. Over 1.1 billion tourists crossed international borders, over half of who travelled by air to their destinations and up to 80 percent of visitors to certain small island states. Air freight constitutes 34.6 per cent of world trade by value despite only 0.5 per cent by volume. Going forward, the international community must address the challenges of a rapidly expanding aviation sector.

The ICAO World Aviation Forum will explore the wide-ranging socio-economic benefits of an effectively supported civil aviation sector, outline ICAO’s NCLB goals of supporting improved State aviation implementation and business case preparation for aviation projects with an emphasis on the implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and policies, and foster improved collaboration among States, industry, development and business community partners, and ICAO.
