The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), will convene the third ICAO Air Transport Symposium (IATS 2016), entitled “Addressing Competition Issues: Towards a better Operating Environment” at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, Canada on 30 and 31 March 2016.
The Symposium will provide a forum for exchange of information on competition issues among aviation professionals and other Stakeholders in accordance with Assembly Resolution A38-14 Appendix A; and create opportunity to further examine and address competition issues including fair and unfair competitions, level playing field, aviation specific safeguards, subsidies and State aids, connectivity and competiveness as well as equal opportunity.
Speakers will include high-level representatives from competition authorities, civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and international organizations.
The event is expected to attract a wide variety of experts from the air transport industry, civil aviation authorities, competition authorities, academics, air transport lawyers and consultants. The outcome of the interactive discussions at the Symposium will provide valuable views from civil aviation stakeholders and assist in the implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Worldwide Air Transport Conference (ATConf/6), as endorsed by the 38th Session of the Assembly, which is within the framework of the ICAO Strategic Objective: Economic Development of Air Transport.
The Conference will create opportunity for the industry to showcase existing technologies, on-going research and development activities as well as product and services in air transport sector.
