Practical Information

Geography

Togo is located in West Africa, and has 45 km of coastline with sandy beaches and coconut palms. Its territory extends more than 600 km north from the coast, with a surface area of 56,000 km2.

 

Language

There are over 50 African dialects, and the official language is French. Many Togolese also speak English and German. Ewe and Kabye are the two main national languages.

 

Visas

Nationals of ECOWAS may enter Togo freely, without a visa, upon presentation of a valid passport or national ID.


Non-ECOWAS foreign nationals must show a passport containing a visa. However, it is possible to obtain a visa on arrival at Lomé Airport.
 
Outside the country, entry and visitor visas are issued by Togolese diplomatic and consular missions.
 

Health

The yellow fever vaccination is mandatory, but may be administered on arrival.
 

Climate

In Lomé, the coolest months are usually July-August, with an average low temperature of 22⁰C. The average high temperature is 31⁰C.
 

Electricity (voltage, adaptors, etc.)

French electrical sockets are used in Togo, so you may need adaptors.
 

Telephone/FAX/Photocopy/Internet 

The hotels and the conference centre offer free Wi-Fi. Photocopiers will be provided at the conference centre.
 

Transport

The organizing committee will be providing special shuttles to the airport, the hotel and the conference centre.
 

Venue

The meeting will take place at the ECOBANK ETI Conference Centre on Boulevard Momo, on the sea front.

Currency and Foreign Exchange  

The currency of Togo is the CFA franc. All banking institutions in Togo have an exchange bureau.
