 | This session will provide participants with information on ICAO’s improved framework of requirements and guidance to assist States, operators and air navigation service providers (ANSPs) regarding risks from surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) and key risk factors to be considered in risk assessments for their daily operations. During this presentation, participants will have the opportunity to understand the differences between the guidance provided by States to airspace users in the risk assessment process and the associated risk assessment mechanism, based on existing practices. The presentation will be concluded with a discussion on the potential challenges that may be faced when changing a State’s posture in the spectrum to further develop multilateral arrangements for the sharing of risk information, in order to better help National Air Operators make timely and informed decisions regarding security and safety issues arising from operations over or near conflict zones. |
