NAT POG/06, Issy-les-Moulineaux, France - 10 to 14 September 2018

​The Sixth Meeting of the North Atlantic Procedures and Operations Group (NAT POG/06) was hosted by the French Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile from at their headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris from 10 to 14 September 2018.  The meeting spent considerable time and effort fine tuning the Concept of Operations and the Implementation Plan and associated Task List needed for the Spaced-Based Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and Advanced Surveillance-Enhanced Procedural Separation trials which are scheduled to begin in March 2019.  The task was successfully completed and was submitted for final approval.  The meeting also reviewed the operational effect of the implementation of Performance Based Communications Surveillance (PBCS) on 29 March 2018.  Despite some pre-implementation concerns, the meeting was pleased to note that the implementation, from an operational perspective, was smoother than anticipated.

The meeting approved a Concept of Operations as well as an implementation plan for NAT Operations Without a Fixed Assigned Speed (OWAFS).  This application will permit operators to fly at more fuel efficient speeds.  The meeting also reviewed and updated many of the NAT Regional documents that are managed by the NAT Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG).
