Today, 8 March 2019, the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office staff and the ECAC staff celebrated together the International Women's Day.
The staff of the two sister organizations took this opportunity in order to reflect together, in an informal atmosphere, on how far society, in general, and civil aviation, in particular, have come and how far they still have to go in order to achieve gender equality.
Ms. Silvia Gehrer, the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, presented an update on the ICAO Gender Equality Programme and the Implementation Plan, underlining that they are the direct outcome and reflection of the Assembly Resolution 39-30 and the 2030 United Nations Agenda, specifically the cross-cutting Strategic Development Goal 5 on Gender Equality.
The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, Ms. Silvia Gehrer, seized this opportunity and introduced the ICAO EUR/NAT Gender Equality Focal Point, Ms. Mihaela Mladin Brunette, and the Alternate, Ms. Leyla Suleymanova, as recently approved by the Secretary General.
