ICAO Aviation Data and Analysis Seminar, Istanbul, Turkey, 8 to 12 July 2019

The second ICAO Aviation Data and Analysis Seminar for the EUR/NAT and MID Regions was held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 8 to 12 July 2019. A total of 96 experts from 19 States, 3 international and regional organizations (ACI Europe, IATA, and AACO), 8 airlines, 2 aircraft manufacturers and aviation industry participated at the seminar. The Seminar was opened by Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and closed by Mr. Bahri Kesici, General Director of the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority.

The objective of the Seminar was to bring together all stakeholders to review the current situation and trends of aviation in the EUR/NAT and MID Regions and to contribute to the understanding of the challenges and needs of the different stakeholders, whilst taking into consideration cost effectiveness. The use of civil aviation data analysis for planning and decision making in ICAO, national administrations, airlines and airports was also addressed.






The Seminar included presentations on the latest applications in data and analytics that are used for efficient decision making by different aviation stakeholders, as well as a number of discussion panels addressing interesting subjects such as: information systems to improve airline efficiency, economics of airports and economics of airlines. The new ICAO platform ICADS (ICAO Civil Aviation Data Solutions) was presented along with all the features available such as the Global Air Transport Optimization (GATO).


Taking notes of the suggestions made by the participating States, the ICAO EUR /NAT Office will organize a third seminar on Aviation Data and Analysis in 2020.
