CAPSCA-EUR/07, Helsinki, Finland - 10 to 12 April 2019

​The ICAO EUR/NAT Office in coordination with ICAO Air Navigation Bureau, Aviation Medicine Section, and in consultation with the World Health Organization organized the 7th European Meeting of the Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA-EUR/07).

 

Hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Finland, Traficom, the meeting was held in Helsinki, from 10 to 12 April 2019, with 86 registered participants from 24 States and 10 International Organisations (WHO, EASA, ERAA, EUROCONTROL, EU FRONTEX, EU HEALTHY GATEWAYS, Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), IFALPA, JAA-TO, ACI).

The objective of the meeting was to present the latest and detailed information on crisis management for Public Health Events in the aviation sector. A specific session dedicated to disinsection /disinfection guidelines and procedures was also included.

 

The meeting focused as well on how to develop a clear understanding of the importance concerning the preparedness in the aviation sector  of all stakeholders involved, for a public health event; it underlined the need for  early and coordinated involvement of all stakeholders during a public health emergency; on the importance of sharing experiences, best practices and lessons learned regarding disinsection/disinfection guidelines and practices; as well as sharing experiences, best practices and lessons learned from the Public Health exercises conducted recently within the EUR/NAT region.

 

The meeting participants discussed the ICAO CAPSCA programme and activities at both Global and Regional levels, including the CAPSCA aims and objectives, key achievements, multi-sector collaboration within States and between States and international organisations, CAPSCA assistance visits etc.
