Chile deposited its instrument of ratification of the Montreal Convention of 1999 during a brief ceremony at ICAO headquarters on 19 March 2009. This brings the total number of parties to the Convention to 90.

India deposited its instrument of accession to the Montreal Convention of 1999 during a brief ceremony at ICAO headquarters on 1 May 2009. This brings the total number of parties to the Convention to 91.

Romania deposited its instruments of ratification of two Protocols of amendment to the Chicago Convention during a brief ceremony at ICAO headquarters on 14 August 2009. The Protocols amend the final paragraph of the Chicago Convention to provide for the authentic texts of the Convention in the Arabic and Chinese languages.

The United Arab Emirates deposited its Letter of Notification of Association with the International Cospas-Sarsat Programme as a Ground Segment Provider during a brief ceremony at ICAO headquarters on 27 October 2009. The Cospas-Sarsat Programme provides accurate, timely and reliable distress alert and location data to help search and rescue authorities assist persons in distress. ICAO and IMO are joint depositaries of the International Cospas-Sarsat Programme Agreement.
