Metric: Gap between the 3-year global and regional accident rates

Description: This metric is calculated by using the average accident rate for the selected region for the past 3 years, and then comparing it against the 3-year Global Accident rate (e.g. 4.4 for 2008-2010, 4.1 for 2009-2011, 3.8 for 2010-2012, 3.4 for 2011-2013, 2.9 for 2012-2014). The accident statistics used is from ICAO (published in the Safety Reports), as well as scheduled commercial departures from the Official Airlines Guide (OAG).

Measurement: Accidents per million scheduled commercial departures on aircraft above 5 700kg




Metric: Gap between the 3-year global and regional percentage of accidents

Description: This metric is calculated by using the average percentage of accidents for specific accident categories (as defined in ADREP e.g. RE, RI, CFIT, LOC-I), for the selected region for the past 3 years. This is then compared against the 3-year global percentages for the same accident categories.

Measurement: Accidents limited to scheduled commercial departures on aircraft above 5 700kg

Metric: Percentage of airports with international traffic for which the State has PQ 8.081 satisfactory

Description: This metric uses the USOAP Protocol Question 8.081 to estimate the number of certified international aerodromes in a State. This metric is calculated by applying PQ 8.081 below to all international aerodromes in the State:

"Has the State promulgated regulations detailing the requirements for the certification of aerodromes, and including the criteria to determine if an aerodrome should be certified?",


DISCLAIMER: This metric only provides an estimated level of implementation for aerodrome certification, and does not yet fully represent actual figures. This metric will be improved in a future version, featuring a mix of USOAP results, as well as actual number of certified aerodromes.
