As information and documentation producer, ICAO requires a steady flow of new information and documentation. ICAO also requires an easy access to existing info-sources. Organization, maintenance, dissemination and disposition of this vast array of incoming printed, electronic, microfilmed, audio or video information is the main responsibility of the Records and Web Management (RWM) Section. RWM users range from members of delegations and ICAO staff, to delegates attending various meetings and numerous outside visitors, researchers, students, professors, journalists. Finding more efficient and effective ways for providing information and documentation in appropriate form and in timely manner is our priority.
RWM is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of a complete collection of official files, documents and publications of the International Civil Aviation Organization. This includes the establishment of retention schedules for files and documents, the microfilming of files, use and disposal of records.
RWM has also an extensive collection of publications of the United Nations and specialized agencies, as well as books, periodicals and documents on aviation and allied subjects. Library provides an online access to its collection to the outside and inside users. Reference, information and documentation services are offered to ICAO Secretariat, National Delegations, and to the general public. Library provides an index service for ICAO documents and publishes different reference lists and special bibliographies.
As a webmaster of the ICAO's Internet sites, RWM is responsible for maintaining and developing its information contents, Web appearance, usefulness and appeal to the general public. RWM is also responsible for the development and maintenance of a Web site known as ICAO-NET for Contracting States. It also develops and maintains a State Letter Distribution (SLED) system.
RWM is responsible, in cooperation with other bureaux, for the preparation and production of various CD-ROMs.
