Aviation Biofuel and Sustainable Agriculture in South East Asia Workshop: a first step in launching the Southeast Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Initiative (SEASAFI)

Representatives from the aviation and biofuel sectors, together with policymakers, regulators, NGOs and other stakeholders, met in Bangkok to address the opportunities and challenges of developing a successful sustainable aviation biofuels industry in Southeast Asia.

The Aviation Biofuel and Sustainable Agriculture in South East Asia Workshop, organised by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) together with the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) and the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Users Group (SAFUG), is a key first steps in launching the the Southeast Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel Initiative (SEASAFI) in the region.

SEASAFI aims to engage a broad set of stakeholders. The objectives are to:

  • Raise regional awareness of the progress made in aviation biofuels development, with a focus on the opportunities in SE Asia
  • Ensure sustainability, making explicit linkages to rural socio-economic development opportunities, and aviation industry’s commitment to minimizing environmental impacts.
