Information concerning physical characteristics, obstacles, visual aids, markings and lights can be found in Annex 14 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The Aerodrome design manual (Doc 9157) provides information concerning runways, taxiways, apron, pavement, visual aids and electrical systems.
Guidelines concerning land use and planning are available in the Airport planning manual (Doc 9184).
The Airport service manual (Doc 9137) provides information on rescue and fire fighting, emergency planning as well as operational and maintenance practices.
