​The Seventh Meeting of FAN​​S Implementation Team, South-East Asia (FIT-SEA/7), Fukuoka, Japan,  30 January – 1 February 2008​ 

The Seventh Meeting of FANS Implementation Team, South-East Asia (FIT-SEA/7), graciously hosted by Civil Aviation Bureau Japan (JCAB), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) was held at ACROS FUKUOKA conference hall in Fukuoka, Japan from 30  January to 1 February 2008.  Japan has been providing assistance to the South China Sea area including the Central Reporting Agency services.
 
Viet Nam had conducted ADS/CPDLC trials on six oceanic RNAV routes L625, L628, M765, M768, N500 and N892 in the Ho Chi Minh Flight Information Region (FIR) for all aircraft equipped with FANS-1/A since March 2007.
 
The meeting concluded that the data link performance during the trials in the Ho Chi Minh FIR was operationally acceptable for ATC, and agreed that the commencement of regular data link services in the Ho Chi Minh FIR would bring enhanced communications and surveillance capabilities over the South China Sea.  Accordingly, Viet Nam would commence regular data link operations in harmony with the Singapore FIR on 10 April 2008.
 
IATA congratulated the ICAO FIT-SEA, Singapore, Viet Nam, Japan and operators for the excellent progress in the South China Sea area.
